Round 2: Harvey Norman come out swinging with an undercut to Dick Smith’s Lumia 800 pre-order price!

With the Lumia 800 Aussie launch only days away, WPDownUnder reported earlier this week that Dick Smith Electronics had come out swinging in the Lumia 800 price fight. Advertising pre-orders at $628 – on a RRP of $699, they have White and Black currently available for delivery from March 15th. Meanwhile, Harvey Norman initially listed the Lumia 800 (in Black, Cyan and Magenta) for the RRP of $699. Today, WPDownUnder discovered on a webpage bookmarked earlier from their site, that Harvey Norman appear to be in the process of refreshing these prices. We say in the process, because at the time of writing, they have disappeared off the HN webpage except via our old bookmarked link!

Interestingly, the screen grabs WPDownUnder has taken from the HN site suggest a “cash-back” offer on pre-orders. However the price both before and after cash-back is the same. Is there going to be a price-redemption offer involving HN or Nokia? Is this an error – and they are just ensuring a pre-order best price guarantee? We shall have to wait and see when the pages re-appear live on their site.

Until they do – you can access their website to verify the info HERE. Harvey Norman have dropped their pre-order price to $1 under that of the DSE discounted offer. It looks like we will have some hard fought retail competition to get your hard-earned cash for those seeking to purchase outright!

And that’s a win for Windows Phone customers DownUnder! :D

Sheeds.

That’s awesome! Glad to see HN are finally being competitive.

What I like is that compedative pricing here slides the prices close to gray import prices.

Good to see that sales staff in the shops are promoting the device. Lets hope they continue 6 months from now as they are probably the single most important group when it comes to that crucial phone changeover period.

When I first received an email catelog from Dick Smith around a week ago promoting their pricing of the Lumia 800 at $628, I literally sniffed…… just as Trent commentted below, $628 or $627 is just way too expensive, given that I could grab a gray import from Hong Kong for just a bit over $400; not to mention that the ‘actual product life cycle’ of the Lumia 800 has already passed like 2-3 months since its real launch in Europe, and the fact that the US market is now getting ready for the Lumia 900!!!

Except HN only be selling the 900 WCDMA Model, not Telstra 850 WCDMA!

Any store can order any model its up to the stores to choose which one to keep in stock. HN is an optus carrier to will have the 900 model but some stores like Moore Park have both the 900 and 850 available from this week.
