Telstra confirm “Tango” MCR3 update is now in test. ETA July.

After a small delay (by comparison to Australian best practice) – Telstra have today publicly confirmed that they have the “Tango” Windows Phone update in test. Since Vodafone confirmed this back on June 8th, WPDownUnder has been waiting on additional Aussie Telco confirmation of the software update for existing handsets. New handsets available here, such as Telstra’s own Titan 4G or the Lumia 900 and 610 on other carriers are of course already shipping with this latest OS version.

Today’s Smartphone Software Update page at Telstra shows this new information:

With the staggered typical approach to update deployments, the previously confirmed global release of Nokia’s update (The MCR3 update with Tethering and other Nokia tweaks) from June 27th - a July ETA would seem pretty much right on target.

Thanks to those WPDownUnder readers / Tweeps who let Telstra know they were keen to see some public engagement on the update. Even so, it looks like it was left to others to update our CrowdSupport post at Telstra’s online community forums with this answer ;)

LOL

Sheeds.

Nice! Telstra are always slow, but at least they’re not as bad as AT&T. I am hoping this update will inadvertently fix my current issue with IE – I can no longer use tabs without IE bombing out. If it was any other app I would uninstall/reinstall but I am not allowed to do that with IE. I’ve turned my phone on / off, cleared cache and messed with the IE settings to no avail. The only thing left to do will be to reset my phone but I don’t want to lose all of my SMS and game saves. Sooooo fingers crossed!

I’ve had a Taiwan model Htc Titan 1 for 8 months and still no tango? Any idea when I would get tango?

    Any news on Optus!?!

I just updated to Tango this morning! Im with Optus and have LG Optimus7. On MMS feature is outstanding. LG Optimus7 had the tethering capability released some months ago with Optus, so have been enjoying ‘internet sharing’ for some time.

Tethering is just for Nokia… Most (?) phones already have that in the last update a few months ago… My Telstra-branded HD7 certainly did

the HTC did have it earlier, the nokia i replaced it with doesn’t. but i’m pretty sure the htc only used cable tethering instead of wifi.

FYI this update is rolling out now. I got the notification last night and I’m currently installing it. On my Telstra HD7 if that makes any difference.
